About

A little over 7 years ago I created a Second Life avatar and named her Memory – to discover and explore an amazing phenomenon – an immense cyber world where the content is created and maintained by its own users. I had no idea how much I would laugh – and cry;  that the people I would meet would become my dear friends. That some would die.  Alongside this I have joined the SL fashion scene- where high fashion is as easy to wear as jeans – and where anyone can “do it in a halo”. I have learned SL photography – (old dogs can learn!) and that some skills transfer between worlds – some do not.

I blog to share some of the delight I find in the creativity in SL – to make links between people and places and worlds; to celebrate.

You were once wild here. Don’t let them tame you.

  1. Peace on Earth?

“Aren’t humans amazing? They kill wildlife – birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.

Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal – health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.

So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases.

Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.

Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and then plead for ‘Peace on Earth.'” C. David Coates

The good news is that anyone can break this cycle of violence. I did and you can too. Each of us has the power to choose compassion. Peace really does begin in the kitchen.
